The carnival of Lohri which marks the end of winters is commemorated
across most to the north components of India, particularly in Punjab and
Haryana. Lohri is commemorated every year on 13th January, a day before
Makar Sankranti, in the month of Magh (as per the Hindu calendar).
Being one of the harvest carnivals of Punjab, Lohri retains great

After rescuing those young women, he utilised to arrange their marriages to Hindu young men. This noble origin changed his image from a being a dacoit into a champion. In the morning, little boys and young women proceed door-to-door vocalising the famous recital associated to this festival i.e. ‘Sundar mundariye hoye’, to assemble the capital for the community bonfires, to be lit-up in the night. Huge wooden logs are organised simultaneously for a bonfire. one time the bonfire is lit, persons take three rounds of the bonfire and pray to the Agni for abundant crops and prosperity, simultaneously putting in popcorns, peanuts and rayveris. Once the prayers are over, the prasad of til, peanuts, rayveri, puffed rice, popcorns, gajak and sweets is distributed.
