1. genuine READING. That means systematic phonics for some months until young kids learn to read. That means no Whole Word, no sight-phrases, no Dolch phrases, no high-frequency words. These gimmicks are all the same thing and the cause we have 50 million purposeful illiterates.
2. genuine ARITHMETIC. Schools use sensible, coherent programs such as Saxon numbers, Singapore numbers, or the like. (They do not use restructure numbers in any of its forms-- Everyday numbers, attached numbers, TERC.) young kids expert rudimentary skills, know the multiplication benches, and can find responses. No more spiraling, fuzziness, or dependence on calculators.
3. genuine LEARNING. It's knowledge-based and fact-filled. Children learn rudimentary data in the fields of Geography, annals, research, publications, etc. scholars advance in a ordered way from the simple to the complex--which directs to authentic critical conceiving.
4. REAL learning. It's academically correct (as are against to democratically correct). The emphasis is on construction study abilities and scholarly feature. Students understand a large deal, and understand how to discover more. They can do unaligned work. They realise that precision, rigor, and honesty are good things.
